icare Dust Diseases Care – Lung Screen Service Mobile Unit

The icare Dust Diseases Care Lung Screen Service’s mobile unit, known as the ‘The Lung Bus‘, is a mobile respiratory lung screening testing unit on wheels.  It has an onboard X-ray room, advanced lung function testing equipment and a medical practitioner to conduct the examination.

icare Dust Diseases Care – Lung Screen Service

Employers have a responsibility to provide health monitoring for workers exposed to hazardous dust in the workplace.

Workers have the right to ask their employer for a health monitoring service if they have been exposed to hazardous dust in the workplace.

icare Dust Diseases Care Lung Screen Service provides health monitoring for workers exposed to hazardous dust in the workplace via either their Clinic in Pitt street, Sydney, via out sourcing, a limited portable (at home) service, and their long established Mobile Lung Screen Unit ~ known as the ‘The Lung Bus‘.

Lung screenings are a quick and painless procedure that can help with early detection of an asbestos or other dust related disease.  icare Dust Diseases Care is committed to making this service more easily available to employers and their workers, which is why we offer three different ways for employers to arrange one.

The painless examination takes 20 to 25 minutes meaning up to 50 employees can be screened in one day. A report is later provided to each worker, and further support through icare Dust Diseases Care if necessary.

Each examination takes less than half an hour, and involves:

  • A lung function test by a respiratory scientist
  • Respiratory medical examination by a doctor
  • If required, an X-ray reported by a radiologist
  • Results are returned to icare dust diseases care to be analysed by a respiratory physician. A health monitoring report is provided to each worker and the employer is notified of any workplace injury.

You can find out more about the icare Dust Diseases Care Lung Screen Service by clicking [here].

Employers can choose the right service option depending on location and size of their workforce.

Bookings can be made by calling 13 94 44 or by emailing: lungscreen@icare.nsw.gov.au
