TheBernie Banton Foundation’s Mesothelioma and Asbestos Related Support (MARS) Australia Dust Diseases Support operates Australia-wide, offering peer-based support and information, and referral and advocating services to those who have been diagnosed with an asbestos or occupational dust related disease, and to their carers and immediate family members, as well as those bereaved.
Whilst the Bernie Banton Foundation started off being all about asbestos, it has grown to be far more! To fill a demonstrated need, MARS Australia now not only offers support to sufferers, their carers and loved ones living an asbestos related disease journey, but also to those living an occupational dustrelated disease journey. We may not have lived other dust disease journeys the same as we have lived asbestos related diseases (ARD) journeys……. but support is support – it is what we do! We can, and do help with all the things we do so well supporting people living the ARD journey.
The most common Asbestos Related Diseases are:
Malignant Mesothelioma Cancer | Pleural Plaques | Asbestos Related Pleural Diseases (ARPD) | Asbestosis| Asbestos Related Lung Cancer
The more common Occupational Dust Related Diseases include:
Black Lung (Coal Dust Pneumoconiosis) | Silicosis
MARS Australia also provides asbestos exposure and awareness support – as more people become aware of the dangers of asbestos, more incidence of ‘asbestos stress’ is coming to the fore as people believe, or recognise they have been exposed.
Our Freecall Support Helpline, available Australia-wide, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week offering peer-based support and information from people who have, importantly, lived the mesothelioma or other dust disease journeys.
