The Bernie Banton Foundation’s advocating service is an integral part of the Foundation’s Mesothelioma and Asbestos Related Support Australia. Please read further to see how we can advocate on your behalf – we are here to help you during these often stressful times.
ABOUT US
The foundation is fiercely apolitical, and was founded by Karen Banton for only one reason, to uphold what Bernie Banton AM believed in; to assist people to navigate the difficult journey an mesothelioma asbestos cancer or another asbestos related disease diagnosis presents; to enable people to have informed choice about specialist asbestos dust litigators and medical professionals; to prevent people being exposed to asbestos dust by creating awareness of mesothelioma asbestos cancer and other asbestos related diseases; and to advocate for, and to be:
‘The voice of reason for Australian asbestos related disease sufferers, their carers and loved ones, allied health and care providers, and to the wider community.’
Advocating – What We Do
We advocate on behalf of asbestos and occupational dust related disease sufferers, their carers and loved ones, and allied health and care providers, particularly on Supportive Care Option issues such as; medical and legal referral; hospitals and cancer centres; clinical trials; dealing with local councils; palliative care and support networks; and liaising with the NSW Government’s, icare Dust Diseases Care. We also advocate pharmaceutical companies and governments on wider issues such as the number of treatment trials, and newly released drugs being made available to sufferers at an affordable price.
We are here to help you, and to go into bat for you. If you feel at a loss, and don’t know how to proceed, you wont be alone, or the first to feel that way – it is perfectly understandable. It may be something as confusing as the myriad of paper work to look at, absorb and act on after being diagnosed; accessing a medical specialist; finding the right specialist asbestos or occupational dust litigator; or simply not knowing what to do at any stage of the journey.
We DO NOT charge, or place expectation of donations being made, for any of our services (however, we gratefully accept donations from those who appreciate the support or services we offer), neither do we have (and never will have) any ‘pay by referral’ or ‘quota’ type relationship with any legal firms, medical specialists, individuals; corporate, union, or government bodies. We do however have relationships with, and recommend people and organisations we believe are specialists at what they do, are holistic and importantly, ethical!
If you contact our Asbestos Disease Support Helpline you will talk to a person who, importantly, has walked a similar journey you are either on, or about to embark on.
The Bernie Banton Foundation truly is:
‘The voice of reason for Australian asbestos related disease sufferers, their carers and loved ones, allied health and care providers, and to the wider community.’
